About Me
Hi everyone, My name is Steve Clay and I live with my amazing wife Kim and our beautiful little pooch Monty, in the village of Loggerheads, near Market Drayton in Shropshire.
I started sculpting in the late 80’s ( with a name like ‘Clay’ what else was I going to do! ) and have always been fascinated with art and miniatures in particular. Throughout the 90’s and in to the 2000’s I worked for several reputable giftware manufacturers both here in England and in Scotland.
I started creating pieces for the Oakenwood range early in 2026 and it is very much inspired by the ancient woodland that surrounds our home.
Each piece is intricately sculpted in wax before being moulded and reproduced in a high quality resin. Once cast, every piece is hand finished to remove sharp edges before it is made ready for hand painting.
this is where each little character really comes to life, and being painted entirely by hand , each is totally unique.
Once painted, every piece receives two coats of protective varnish. This both enhances the colours and protects the decoration.
